Invitation from AACC's Office for Learning Advancement

Happy New Year, Adjunct Faculty Colleagues:

I hope you have some room on your calendar for upcoming events designed for you; and, as usual, I invite you to visit the website developed in the fall for you at http://www.aacc.edu/calt/adjunctfaculty/index.htm:

First, you are invited to register for January's technology training. Some is oriented for direct classroom use by Neil Brown, our talented trainer, and has been developed specifically on your behalf.

Adjunct Faculty Professional Development Course Schedule

Registration Form

Second, our Winter Convocation is scheduled for the evening of February 19 when Dr. Virginia Anderson of Towson University will work with us on developing tests and learning assessments that work and that improve student learning. Dr. Anderson's seminar at the college this past December was evaluated as very effective and very useful by the faculty. Attached is the information for registering for this evening which will include some our famous AACC hospitality. I hope you will let us know soon that you will join us since seating is limited.

Assessment Workshop

Finally, spring orientation for the college is January 15 at 9 AM in the Pascal Theater. You are very welcome to attend if you are available. The focus is on "Ethical and Responsible Expectations for the Classroom," and presentations include that of the director of counseling, advising and retention services on the college code of conduct; mine on the college policy and procedures related to academic integrity; and the registrar's on federal privacy rules regarding students and their association with the college. The college attorney also will take part in this presentation, as will our coordinator for disability support services. No registration is necessary for the orientation.

All of these items and related available materials will be listed at http://www.aacc.edu/calt/adjunctfaculty/index.htm by the end of next week for your future reference.

You have my sincerest best wishes for a wonderful spring semester. I look forward to seeing you at one of these events.
