ERIC-Educational Technology  "Educational technology is a term widely used in the field of education (and other areas), but it is often used with different meanings. The word technology is used by some to mean hardware-the devices that deliver information and serve as tools to accomplish a task-but those working in the field use technology to refer to a systematic process of solving problems by scientific means. Hence, educational technology properly refers to a particular approach to achieving the ends of education. The Wellspring - An Online Community of Distance Educators  "What is The Wellspring? Good question! The Wellspring is a collaborative project from Instructional Systems Inc. and members of the Teachers College, Columbia University community. It is devoted to the needs of Distance Educators using the World Wide Web to deliver post-secondary courses to their students. Our primary focus is on Web-based asynchronous courses, many of which are available from ISI, but most of the topics in the Discussion Forums and Reading Rooms are broadly applicable to Distance Learning regardless of delivery mechanism. We frequently add new readings and links to this site, so we encourage you to visit often. • PRESENT ( Practical Resources for Educators Seeking Effective New Technologies ) is located at the University of Delaware.   "Bridging the gap between "gee-whiz" technology and effective classroom use of technology is what the PRESENT is all about: a hands-on evaluation site for equipment used in instructional delivery. Established technologies, including Web-based solutions, presentation applications, and distance learning options are available for learning and experimentation in a simulated University classroom environment. Personalized attention will be given to identifying the appropriateness for, and making the connection to, specific areas of instruction.
