Knowledge Analysis Technologies, LLC

"Based on ten years of well-funded basic and applied research, we have developed an essay analysis system that can provide important educational benefits. The web-based Intelligent Essay Assessor, IEA, supplies instantaneous evaluations and tutorial adv ice on the semantic content and conceptual quality of expository writing. This is a qualitative leap beyond the spelling, grammar and style aids currently available. IEA's ratings of quality and quantity of knowledge are virtually as reliable and predictively-valid as a teacher's, more consistent, and instantaneous. The detail in its comments and suggestions is potentially unlimited. For example, it can tell students what important content is missing from their papers, and point them to relevant sources in their textbooks. It can also pinpoint irrelevant and redundant passages, and more. Unlike earlier approaches, IEA does not rely on word counts, punctuation, keyword matches or other superficial character istics. It actually measures knowledge."

"IEA is economically and logistically most effective in situations where a very large number of students write about the same topic and the costs of set-up and processing can be spread over many users."
