Corner
'John Dewey was on our
campus in the '30s and we had a national colloquy here in '97
re-visiting his legacy and looking at "Education for the 21st
Century." Some of the quotes we used from Dewey at the 1931
Rollins Curriculum Conference
were:
"The changes in ...American life....in the last
generation....have outstripped the educational principles. philosophy,
and practices of the college."
"I do not think that any thorough-going modification of college
curriculum would be possible without a modification of the methods of
instruction." '
