Title: Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis (HACA) - HUD-mandated Survey of Residents

Sponsor: HACA

Content:  As an element of its obligations to HUD, the Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis had CSLI conduct a survey of its residents based on the HUD-approved questionnaire. (2001)

Title: Anne Arundel County Public Schools - Evaluation of School-Community Resource Officer Program

Sponsor: AACPS

Content: As the Anne Arundel County Public School system was rolling out its school-community resource officer program, it was concerned to understand how well the program was being understood and generally perceived by the various stakeholders such as teachers, administrators, counselors, students and parents.  A wide-ranging interview and survey process was undertaken for assessment purposes. (2001)

Title: Department of Natural Resources, State of Maryland - Customer Satisfaction Surveys

Sponsor: Maryland DNR

Content: DNR wanted to assess how well it was conducting a myriad of programs.  This project took five divisions within DNR (Hunting, Fishing, Boat Licensing, Forestry, Parks) and administered surveys based on databases of fee-paying customers.  In addition, a separate analysis of DNR as a whole was conducted. (2001)

Title: Neighborhood Leadership Program

Sponsor: Leadership Anne Arundel (this project was funded by AACC)

Content: In its third year of operation under the umbrella of Leadership Anne Arundel, the Neighborhood Leadership Academy attempts to convey leadership skills to residents of underprivileged and minority communities.  CSLI conducted its second program evaluation in 2001.

Title: Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce - Membership Survey

Sponsor: AAACCC

Content: The Chamber surveyed its members about chamber services, forms of communication with membership, fees and related issues. (2000)

Title: Anne Arundel County Childcare Resources and  Referral Services- Membership Survey

Sponsor: AACCRR

Content: This survey focused on family needs for child care services, the adequacy of current and past child care arrangements, and preferences for new services. (2000)

Title: Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis (HACA) - Residents Survey

Content:  The Annapolis Housing Authority surveyed residents about conditions of public housing, services sought, management effectiveness and the like.(2000-2002)

Title: Anne Arundel County Housing Authority - Resident Survey

Sponsor: Anne Arundel County Housing Authority

Content:  As part of an on-going effort to evaluate the satisfaction of residents with the several communities operated by the Housing Authority, quarterly surveys have been performed.  CSLI has assisted with the questionnaire design, implementation strategy, and data analysis.  (1997-2002)

Title: ICOPS Robbery Survey

Sponsor: Anne Arundel County Police Department 

Content: This project focuses on assessing the level of business preparedness for robbery through a survey, offering suggestions for Police outreach to improve business awareness of measures meant to deter crime, and finally conducting an assessment of the effectiveness of Police outreach efforts. (1999-2000)

Content: This survey enabled HACA to comply with HUD reporting requirements. (1999, continued in 2000)

Title: Neighborhood Leadership Program Evaluation and Assessment

Sponsor: Neighborhood Leadership Program/Leadership Anne Arundel (in progress)

Content:  Leadership Anne Arundel's initiative in starting a Neighborhood Leadership Program targeted at imparting leadership skills to current and prospective community leaders in low income/minority population required an evaluation and assessment process.  This process was designed by CSLI and will involve a series of participant surveys and focus groups, as well as follow-up at graduation from the program. (1999)

Title: Association for Women in Communication Member Survey

Sponsor: Association for Women in Communication, Inc.

Content:  This association sought to be understand the job situation and interests of its national membership through a mailed survey. (1999)

Title: City of Annapolis Residents Survey

Sponsor: City of Annapolis

Content:  The City of Annapolis was interested in knowing the views of residents on a range of topics including levels of satisfaction with city services, perceived gaps in service, contact and satisfaction with City personnel, ways in the which the City might improve residents' quality and life, etc. (1999)

Title: In-school Suspension - A Comparison of Programs at Three Middle Schools

Sponsor: Anne Arundel County Public Schools

Content:  After an analysis of programs offered by the Anne Arundel public school system dealing with discipline and violence in 1998, this project was meant to review the implementation of "in-school suspension" as an alternative to "at-home" suspension.  Three middle schools' programs were analyzed using a combination of quantitative (surveys of administrators and students) and qualitative (interviews with counselors, administrators, coordinators, student advocates, and teachers). (1999)

Title: Disruptive and Violent Students Project

Sponsor: Anne Arundel County Public Schools

Content:  A study of the Annapolis and Glen Burnie feeder systems, focusing on problems of disruptive and violent behaviors in schools (1998).  The study provided an assessment of the inventory of programs and initiatives meant to deal with these problems, as well as in-depth interviews with a variety of interested parties.

A follow-up in 1999 (see below) has targeted the in-school suspension programs at three schools (Annapolis Middle, McArthur, and Linwood/Brooklyn Park) in an effort to better understand how these programs were being implemented and their impact upon students.

Title: Anne Arundel Police Accreditation Survey

Sponsor: Anne Arundel County Police Department

Content: The Police Department must undertake a survey of Anne Arundel County residents periodically to maintain its accreditation.  In 1999, a survey similar to one conducted in 1997 was carried out, focusing on issues such as the public's level of concern and experience with crime, and contact and satisfaction with the Police Department and its personnel. (1997, 1999)

Content:  The Annapolis Housing Authority sought information about concerns related to safety, maintenance, nuisances, and long-term expectations of residents. (1999)

Title: First Night Annapolis Survey

Sponsor: First Night Annapolis, Inc.

Content: A survey of the people attending the First Night Annapolis event on December 31, 1998, to assess the demographic characteristics of attendees, inquire about attendees spending patterns and to evaluate the First Night Annapolis festival upon the local community (1999).

Title: Recreation and Parks User Survey

Sponsor: The Department of Recreation and Parks

Content: This survey of Anne Arundel County residents provided information to the Dept. of Recreation and Parks about respondents' current recreational activities, use of facilities,  and whether a market exists for certain kinds of services such as child care, summer camps and various classes (1998).

Title: Criminal Justice Drug Intervention Program

Sponsor: Anne Arundel County Government

Content: CSLI, with Dr. Stephen Steele as principal investigator, assisted County government with strategic planning for this program. It started in 1998 and continuing into 1999.

Title: Anne Arundel County Trade Council Membership Survey

Sponsor: Anne Arundel County Trade Council

Content: A survey of  the Council's membership helped the Council to better understand its members' perceptions of the organization's strengths and weaknesses and gave guidance for future projects and organizational initiatives (1998).

Title: A Glass Ceiling Perspective: A Study of Career Opportunities for Women and Minorities in the Anne Arundel Police Department and the Office on Aging

Sponsor: Anne Arundel County Commission for Women/County Executive's Office

Content: A survey of employees at the Police Department and Office on Aging. The focus was on glass ceiling factors that might operate to limit opportunities for advancement on the job (1997).

Title: State Comptroller's Office Tele-filing Study

Sponsor: Maryland State Comptroller's Office

Content: A state-wide survey of taxpayers assessing their filing preferences and their evaluation of the Comptroller services (1997).

Title: The Family Needs Assessment Survey

Sponsor: Systems Reform Initiative, Anne Arundel County

Content: Based on a countywide survey of residents, this report provides an analysis of family needs, perceptions of threats to families, and an evaluation of the performance of certain County agencies (1996).

Title: Goals 2000 - Full Service Schools

Sponsor: Anne Arundel County School System, funded through Goals 2000

Content: A survey of residents of four low income housing projects in Annapolis and Eastport. The survey was conducted in collaboration with the Anne Arundel Planning Action Committee. It dealt with the needs of local, low income residents, and whether these needs could be met through an expansion of services provided through local elementary schools. It included a survey of students at Tyler Heights and Mills Parole elementary schools (1996).
